Prep Medical Assisting
The Medical Assistant (MDCA) program offers three certificate plans
and an Associate of Applied Science Degree that share a common technical
core of courses that apply to each curriculum plan. Adminstrative
certificate prepares the graduate to perform appointment scheduling,
create and maintain records, medical transcriptions, filing of medical
insurance and billing. Clinical Certificate prepares the graduate
to perform patient-centered assessment, assist in the examination
of patients, perform treatments directed by the physician and perform
common laboratory procedures. Coding Certificate prepares the graduate
to perform advanced coding techniques; data collection; documentation
requirements in the health information environment; classification
systems and appropriate codes; and to understand the federal regulation
perspective payment systems and methods of reimbursement.
Computer
Drafting & Design Technology
The Associate in Applied Science degree prepares students to utilize
computer graphics equipment and hand drafting tool to produce drawings
and solve problems in mechanical, electronic, structural, civil,
piping and architectural drafting; learn principles of computer-aided
drafting on various types of industry-quality graphics systems and
basic principles of design as applied to printed circuit board production,
electromechanical packaging, structural steel construction, architectural
and civil engineering and other areas.
Computer
Electronics Technology
The computer electronics technology department offers an Associate
in Applied Science degree with specializations in Computer Technology,
Telecommunications, Computer Networking Technology, and Biomedical
Electronics Technology. One-year certificate in Computer Maintenance
is also available for those who desire to prepare themselves for
immediate entry into the workforce.
Computer
Information Systems
The Computer Information Systems program offers an Associate in
Applied Science degree, with specializations in Networking Technology,
Business Applications or Media and Web Technology. The Computer
Information System discipline also offers three certificates: Computer
Information Systems – Basic Skills Certificate (1 semester), Business
Applications Specialist (3 semesters), and Computer Information
Systems – Personal Computer Support Specialist(1 year) for those
who desire to prepare themselves for immediate entry into the workforce.
Applied
Accounting
The two-year program in applied accounting is designed to prepare
students interested in pursuing careers as bookkeepers, junior accountants
in business, industry, and government; accounts receivable or accounts
payable clerks; and other similar accounting positions.
Banking
& Finance
This program is designed to train and produce capable management
trainees in the banking and finance industry. The curriculum is
designed to give the graduate a broad knowledge of banking training,
principles of bank operations, money and banking, installment credit,
home mortgage lending, marketing for bankers, credit administration
and bank management.
Import-Export
Management
The Import-Export Management Program is designed to train capable
entry-level personnel in import-export operations. It is designed
to give the students a basic knowledge of foreign trade definitions,
payment terms and financing, commercial terms in foreign languages,
understanding drafts and letters of credit, government foreign trade
controls, export shipping documents, export invoices and packing
lists, export traffic procedures, insurance, calculating prices,
and customs procedures, and documentation activities related to
the total operation in import/export management.
Office
Systems Technology
The student will be awarded an Associate in Applied Science Degree
or a certificate in Office Technology upon completion of course
requirements. The Associate in Applied Science Degree Program is
designed to assist students seeking employment in the clerical/secretarial
areas. Included in the curriculum are technical courses to prepare
the student with necessary skills for occupational competence and
employment.
Management
The Management program is designed to assist students seeking responsible
positions to develop managerial skills. Included in these courses
is the internship (on-the-job) training program.
Management
– Real Estate
This program is designed to train and produce capable management
trainees in real estate operations and to develop the fundamental
skills, knowledge, attitudes, and experiences which enable the student
to function in real estate decision-making positions. The curriculum
is designed to give the graduate a basic knowledge of fundamentals
of real estate, law, finance, appraisal, practice, brokerage, property
management, tax investments, economics, application, listing, land
development, and other activities related to the total operation
in real estate.
Diesel
Engine Mechanics & Repair
This program offers two levels of study: A two-year Associate in
Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree in Diesel Technology and (2) one-year
certificates. The Diesel Technology curriculum is designed to prepare
our students for entry level employment in the heavy truck industry.
Automotive-Collision
Technology
The Automotive-Collision Repair Technology program offers a one-year
certificate in Basic Auto Collision and paint. The curriculum is
designed to prepare the student for entry level employment with
competencies in Basic Metal Repair, Welding, Structural Analysis
and the use of the frame straightening machine.
Automotive
Technology
The Automotive Technology program offers two certificates in automotive
technology, the one-year Basic Engine Service Technician Certificate
and the two-year Automotive Technician Certificate. The advanced
phase of study provides training in various areas of specialization,
including electronic fuel injection, engine performance, electrical
and electronic tuning and troubleshooting.
Heating,
Air-conditioning & Refrigeration
The two-year Commercial Air-conditioning and Refrigeration Program
provides entry level competencies in the service and repair of commercial
units. Domestic and residential air-conditioning and refrigeration
competencies are incorporated during the first year of training.
The student has the option of exiting after one year of training
or following sequence of courses which will provide competencies
in both fields.
Welding
Welding is a one-year program that provides students with a working
knowledge in the field. The course is intended for beginners in
the welding field as well as for students who have received previous
training and want to improve their skills and knowledge of the trade.
Criminal
Justice
The Associate in Applied Science program in Criminal Justice is
designed to meet the needs of persons seeking entry level employment
with or promotion within public or private agencies which maintain
public safety, prevent crime, apprehend or rehabilitate criminals
and insure social welfare.
Child
Development
The Child Development curriculum is designed to train people as
assistants, teachers, or directors in early childhood programs.
Committed to the idea that quality care makes a positive difference
in the lives of children and their families, the program responds
to the demand for quality child care staff. The curricula address
CDA competencies as well as criteria for quality early childhood
programs developed by the National Association for the Education
of Young Children (NAEYC).
