Medical
Assisting A.A.S. 1-year
certificates The Medical Assistant (MDCA) program offers three certificate
plans and an Associate of Applied Science Degree that share a common technical
core of courses that apply to each curriculum plan. Adminstrative certificate
prepares the graduate to perform appointment scheduling, create and maintain records,
medical transcriptions, filing of medical insurance and billing. Clinical Certificate
prepares the graduate to perform patient-centered assessment, assist in the examination
of patients, perform treatments directed by the physician and perform common laboratory
procedures. Coding Certificate prepares the graduate to perform advanced
coding techniques; data collection; documentation requirements in the health information
environment; classification systems and appropriate codes; and to understand the
federal regulation perspective payment systems and methods of reimbursement.
MOA
Basic Certificate 1-semester certificate This
is a one semester program that prepares the student for entry level medical office
skills in communication, customer services and professionalism. Nursing
Assistant - (Aide) 1-semester certificate The
program is designed to prepare students from various cultural and academic backgrounds
with the entry level skills required to function effectively as a Nursing Assistant
(Aide) in community agencies such as nursing homes, hospitals, physician's offices,
the health department and/public school systems. EMS-EMT
Basic - EMS - Paramedic A.A.S. The Emergency
Medical Services Program offers the two levels of training under the Tech Prep
program: EMT-Basic Certificate, and EMT-Paramedic Associates of Applied Science
Degree. At each level of training the student is provided with the opportunity
to master the theory and skills of pre-hospital care. Training includes lecture,
laboratory, and clinical rotations at local emergency rooms and ambulance services.
Progression through the curriculum requires passing the National Registry Exam
to continue from Basic to Intermediate. Phlebotomy 1-semester
certificate The Phlebotomy Certificate is a one-semester program designed
to train the student in the proper techniques and procedures for collecting blood
specimens for analysis in the clinical laboratory. The student is provided with
the opportunity to gain workplace competencies and communications skills consistent
with the role of a Phlebotomist. Physical
Therapy A.A.S. The Physical Therapist
Assistant) {PTHA) curriculum is a two-year integrated program taught over four
regular semesters and one summer session. During the program, the student is given
the opportunity to master the theories and principles of treatment that permit
him/her to work with patients to relieve impairments, overcome disability, and
restore movement, skills and function. Classes include lecture and laboratory
sessions to develop knowledge, skills, and the attitudes required of an entry-level
physical therapist assistant. Radiological
Technology A.A.S. The Radiologic Technology
Program (RADR) educates the student for a career as a Radiologic Technologist.
Radiologic Technologists use specialized equipment to perform diagnostic procedures
on patients. They use X-rays to produce images that aid in diagnosing disease,
trauma and physiological malfunction. Radiologic Technologists develop and critique
radiographic images. They may assist physicians (Radiologist) who specialize in
the use of ionizing radiation to diagnose ad treat disease ad injury. Vocational
Nursing 1-year certificate The primary
role of the vocational nurse is to provide quality-nursing care in a structured
health care setting for clients who are experiencing common, well-defined health
problems with predictable outcomes. The vocational nurse functions under the supervision
of a registered professional nurse and/or a physician. The vocational Nursing
(VN) program is a clinically intensive one year certificate program that offers
classroom instruction and related clinical practice in four basic areas of nursing,
fundamentals, medical/surgical, maternity/pediatric and psychiatric. Want
